Tampa, FL – March 26, 2014 – Hope, the badly burned mixed-breed dog being treated at BluePearl Veterinary Partners specialty and emergency hospital for pets in Tampa, is scheduled to receive a gift courtesy of Companion Therapy Laser on Wednesday.

Dr. Lisa Miller, product manager of Companion Therapy Laser, saw Hope’s story on Facebook and reached out to Hardee Animal Rescue Team and BluePearl Veterinary Partners to offer assistance.

Companion Therapy Laser will be delivering a therapy laser on Wednesday to assist with Hope’s burn treatment. Additionally, Miller will be training some of BluePearl’s specialists on techniques and applications of the therapy laser.

Laser therapy is relatively new and is used to treat burns and wound healing, in addition to treating arthritis, back pain, joint disorders, neck pain and tendon related injuries.

LightForce Therapy Lasers, Companion’s human medicine counterpart division, are already used by the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the Florida Gators, Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Rays and the Miami Heat.

BluePearl Veterinary Partners specialty and emergency hospital in Tampa is one of nine nationally recognized veterinary trauma centers in the U.S.

“We’re always eager to apply new technology to assist in our patients’ treatments and healing processes,” said Dr. Erick Mears, medical director of BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Tampa. “We hope that this will provide an additional edge to the advanced specialty medicine services we already commonly provide as treatment.”

According to HART, Hope was allegedly set on fire by her owner Thursday morning in Arcadia, Fla.

People interested in donating to Hope’s care should make donations directly to HART, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps animals, via their website at hardeeanimalrescueteam.weebly.com

The Arcadia Police Department and the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office are currently investigating.
