In this article, Mark Callanen, PT, DPT, OCS discusses 3 different approaches for managing inflammation (NSAIDS, ice, and laser therapy) and compares the relative efficacy of each. After reviewing research findings, he suggests that the A.R.I.T.A (Active Recovery is the Answer) approach may provide greater benefit than the long-embraced R.I.C.E (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation) method, especially when you incorporate laser therapy into your treatment protocol.
