Tampa, FL – March 31, 2014 – Doctors from BluePearl Veterinary Partners specialty and emergency hospital in Tampa said Monday that Hope, the badly burned dog, is doing well with her healing and recovery.

Doctors from BluePearl gave Hope an antiseptic wash Monday afternoon, which helped with the removal of dead skin and bad tissue. She was also given her sixth laser therapy treatment and remains in BluePearl’s intensive care unit.

“So far, Hope is doing very well in response to our treatment plan,” said Dr. Helga Bleyaert, a board-certified veterinary surgeon at BluePearl who is overseeing Hope’s case. “I’m still a little concerned about her eyes, but we should know more on Tuesday when our ophthalmologists take another look at them.”

BluePearl Veterinary Partners specialty and emergency hospital in Tampa is one of nine nationally recognized veterinary trauma centers in the U.S.

According to the Hardee Animal Rescue Team, Hope was allegedly set on fire by her owner Thursday morning in Arcadia, Fla.

People interested in donating to Hope’s care should make donations directly to HART, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps animals, via their website at hardeeanimalrescueteam.weebly.com

The Arcadia Police Department and the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office are currently investigating.
