Regenerative medicine utilizes the body’s own cells to heal and regenerate damaged tissues in acute and chronic conditions including arthritis and soft tissue injuries. Therapies included in regenerative medicine are Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell therapy.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
What is Platelet Rich Plasma?
Platelet Rich Plasma or “PRP” is a highly concentrated blood sample that contains isolated cells called “platelets” and the fluid portion of the blood called “plasma”.
What does Platelet Rich Plasma do?
Platelets are commonly known to help with blood clotting. Just as importantly, they can also:
- Recruit cells to an area of injury to clean up dead and injured cells
- Release proteins called “Growth Factors” which are responsible for tissue regeneration
Stem Cells
What are Stem Cells?
Stem cells are cells that have the ability to differentiate into any type of cell. They are found in every tissue in the body including bone marrow, fat, skin and muscle.
What are BMAC Stem Cells?
Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Stem Cells are stem cells found in the bone marrow.
