Preoperative low level laser therapy in dogs undergoing tibial plateau levelling osteotomy: A blinded, prospective, randomized clinical trial

Author: Rogatko CP, Baltzer WI, Tennant R

This is a veterinary study that examined the use of a single dose of laser treatment before tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) surgery. Twenty seven dogs were included in the study and were randomly assigned to a single preoperative (800-900 nm dual wavelength, 6 W, 3.5 J/cm2, 100 cm2 area) or sham treatment. Eight weeks post-operatively, a significant difference in peak vertical force analysis was noted between LLLT and sham groups.
